Obituary: Lawrence V. Murphy, Sr. (April 3, 1935 - August 11, 2006)

Mr. Lawrence V. Murphy,Sr., age 71, of 20 Miller Lane Tamaqua, Pa., died Friday, August 11, 2006, at St. Lukes Miners Memorial Medical Ctr. in Coaldale, Pa.

He was a member of Member of St. Jerome R.C.C. Tamaqua, Pa., Lawrence served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict, and retired from J.E. Morgan Knitting of Tamaqua, Pa. He was a member of the New England Fire Co. and American Legion of Tamaqua, Pa.. .

He was the son of the late Theodore Murphy and the late Virginia (Love) Murphy.

He is also survived by his wife of 49 years Mrs. Elizabeth A (Wargo) Murphy;

One Daughter, Mrs. Sharon A. (Murphy) Sword of Tamaqua, Pa.

Two Sons, Mr. Lawrence V. Murphy, Jr. of Tamaqua, Pa. Mr. John F. Murphy & wife Erica

One Sister, Sister-Mrs. Gloria Schwartz wife of John of Bristol, Pa.

One Brother, Brother-Mr. James Gatens of Tamaqua, Pa.

Six grandchildren

Preceded in death by a brother Theodore Murphy.

Arrangements are being handled by E. Franklin Griffiths Funeral Home, Inc., 655 East Broad Street Tamaqua, Pa., Tamaqua, Pa., where the family will receive friends from 9:30 AM to 10:30 AM Tuesday, August 15, 2006. Funeral service will be at St. Jerome R.C.C. at 11:00 AM Tuesday, August 15, 2006 . Interment will be at Sky-View Memorial Park in Tamaqua, Pa.
