William "Bill"Springer Obit

Mr. William "Bill" Springer, age 95, of Tamaqua, Pa., died Monday, February 26, 2007, at St. Lukes Miners Memorial Medical Ctr. in Coaldale, Pa.

Bill was a 1930 Tamaqua High School Grad., and matriculated to Urinius College earning a B.S. in History and Social Sciences, class of 1934.

After Graduation he worked for 35 years at the former Atlas Powder Co, were he was a Supervisor at the Blasting Supplies. Upon being acquired by I.C.I Americas Bill retained the same position.

Bill was a liftetime member of the American Hose Fire Co., Tamaqua, Pa., Schuylkill County Firemans Relief, and Trinity U.C.C.. During the 1940's Bill played in local dance bands and most notably with O's Werley Dance Orchestra.

Born in Tamaqua, Pa., he was the son of the late Daniel Springer and the late Amanda (Link) Springer.

Survived by his wife of 71 years H. Elizabeth "Betty" (Jones) Springer, Tamaqua, Pa.

Daughter, Mrs. Alice Roberts wife of Donald of Fayetteville, Pa.

Two Sons, Dr. Daniel Springer of Ephtata, Pa. Mr. Charles D. Springer & wife Nancy of Tamaqua, Pa.

Eleven Grandchildren Fifteen Great Grandchildren

Preceded in death by Sisters; Mrs. Ione (Springer) Houtz Mrs. Myrtle (Springer) Freeh Evert- Wolfe. Brother, Charles W. Springer

Private Arrangements are being handled by E. Franklin Griffiths Funeral Home, Inc., 655 East Broad Street Tamaqua, Pa. , Rev. David Grant officiating.

Interment Odd Fellows Cemetery, Tamaqua, Pa.
